The Best 10 Smartphone Games of this Decade (2010-2019)

As this extraordinary decade draws to an end, we decided it was a time to make a list of 10 best smartphone games of the past 10 years.
How to even begin summing up the last 10 years?
Every year we’ve had multiple smartphone games that strains the capabilities of processing hardware and human beings alike.
To compromise 3650 days in a single post is a huge task, but don’t worry, we’ve made it for you.

10)Pokémon Go

At number 10 we have the infamous Pokémon Go. If there’s any game that encouraged people to go outdoors and get of their asses it’s definitely this one. The Pokémon franchise was already a worldwide phenomenon. By the time Go came out and it realized a lot of fans dreams to actually go out in the real world and catch their own Pokémon. The implementation of Augmented Reality in Pokémon Go paved its way to its great success.

9) Piano Tiles

Rhythm has been successful Sub-Genre and at number 9 we have a game that introduced this genre to a lot of people. Piano Tiles, it’ll have only four piano keys, it may seem simple but boy! can it get difficult as you advance. You not only have to be fast but accurate. The original game isn’t available for download any more but Piano Tiles 2 is still up and its still a great game.

8) Fruit Ninja

If you never fantasized cutting a fruit in mid air with a katana I’d say you are lying. At number 8 we have Fruit Ninja. This iconic game realizes the fantasy of decimating fruits as they fly across your screen for you to slice before they land but be careful not to hit a bomb.

7) Flappy Bird

At number 7 we have the infamous Flappy Bird. This game was developed by a man called Dong Nguyen and gained popularity for its so frustrating but addicting gameplay. You know what I’m talking about. If you played this game, you would have spent hours and hours trying to beat your own record. Players became more and more frustrated and addicted so much that the creator himself eventually pulled out the game from the app store and play store but its legacy still remains with a lot of spin offs and copycats.

6) Plants VS Zombies

At number 6 we have one from the tower defence genre, Plants VS Zombies. The game is simple and elegant where you get to control various plants that fight hordes of zombies that try to eat your brains and this game still has a very active player base.

5) Angry Birds

None of these games wouldn’t even be on the list if it wasn’t for the app that started a mobile game revolution. At number 5 we have angry birds. Since its release on the app store back in 2009 the physics based Avian themed game has taken the world by storm from all sort of merchandise to a theme park, feature film. It has a very good level design and solid physics to give a overall fun quirky gameplay.

4) Temple Run / Subway Surfers

At number 4 we not only have one but two games who are the pioneer of non stop running games you can find on the app store and play store. They are none other than Temple Run and Subway Surfers. Both games have simple mechanism of swiping or either tilting your smartphone. You need to either escape from the evil demon or from the cop and collect as much coin as you go and go as far as possible. These two games will truly always be a part of every smartphone users heart.

3) Clash Of Clans

If you are a fan of Civilization franchise on PC then you surely must have played the game on number 3, Clash Of Clans. The game revolves around the idea of fortifying a base, defending it from invading players and their clans, and raiding the bases of others in order to gain resources and start the whole process over again. The gameplay is addicting, and because logging off means leaving your base wide open for a raid, the game’s top players stay glued to their screens. This is definitely a big favourite special here in India since it can run on low power entry-level devices with ease.

2) PlayerUnknown’s Battle Grounds

On the second spot we have a new competitor that took the smartphone gaming to a new level. COC would have been on this spot if it wasn’t for this game. This game is also the top trending game in India. The concept of Battle Royale games was fairly new to Indians during the beginning of 2018. PUBG Corp and Tencent Games took an early advantage to release the game in the market way before its competition and then the rest is history.

1) Candy Crush Saga

And finally at the number 1 sweet spot we have The Candy Crush Saga. Activision Blizzard’s hopelessly addictive candy-based puzzle title swept the globe upon release, racking up sales and fans as it added new levels, rewards, and other “chapters” for the saga, including themes like soda and jelly for players to dabble in. The gameplay is very simple, you’d have to mix three or more identical candies to reach your goal. This is precisely why it is timeless and has reached across all ages. It also comes with the different game types so you won’t get bored playing. Pretty much anybody with smartphone would actually had their own Candy Crush experience which is why it’s got the top spot on this list.

So there you have it guys, I’m pretty sure covered iconic games of this decade. Do you agree with my list? What games do you think should have been on this list? Comment below.
